Background & Path
I am Art by Christos, a German-Greek artist based in Düsseldorf. In October 2024 I started painting – first as an inner impulse, then as a necessity. What began playfully with color soon became a meditative process and a language for emotions, thoughts and traces of life. Working in the cultural field for many years and collaborating with designers and photographers sharpened my eye for composition, materiality and quality. I continuously deepen my techniques through experimental studio practice.
Style & Influences
Intuitive, abstract, colorful and experimental – echoing Expressionism, biomorphic forms and Color Field painting. Favourite medium: silk painting colors, complemented by acrylics and mixed media (watercolor, gouache, texture paste, occasional colored/wax crayons). Layering – partly glazing – creates depth, lightness and subtle transitions; texture adds tactile presence.
Process
Paintings grow layer by layer, decision by decision. Sometimes a single medium, sometimes an unplanned combination – always guided by the process. Unique pieces, at times soft and minimal, at times bold and expressive – yet always with a clear statement.
Statement & Ethos
My art is meant to be felt, not only seen. It invites you to pause, sense and perhaps discover your own story within. I aim to create works that move people and make spaces shine.
Commissions & Practice
Alongside my free work, I create bespoke commissions for private clients, medical practices, companies, hotels and restaurants. We define size and color world together; I handle the creative execution. Process documentation on request. Shipping nationwide, across the EU and worldwide (e.g. USA, Canada, Australia, Japan).
